Creative Map (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it when you use our platform at creativemap.io.

1. Who we are

Creative Map is an online platform that lets creative professionals place themselves on an interactive 3D globe and connect with studios, clients, and collaborators worldwide. For questions about this policy, contact us at hello@creativemap.io.

2. Data we collect

We collect data you provide directly and data generated by your use of the service:

• Account data — email address and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth)
• Profile data — full name or handle, specialty, bio, city, country, tools, social links, availability status
• Location data — city and country you enter are geocoded to coordinates so your pin appears on the globe. We do not collect GPS or device location.
• Portfolio images — images you upload to your profile gallery
• Payment data — handled entirely by Stripe. We receive only your subscription status and period. We never store card numbers.
• Usage data — page views, marker clicks, and session data collected via PostHog analytics
• Profile views — when your profile is viewed we log the viewer's country (not their identity) for your weekly stats

3. How we use your data

• Displaying your profile and pin on the globe
• Providing search, filtering, and contact features
• Processing and managing your Pro subscription via Stripe
• Sending transactional emails (e.g. email confirmation, password reset)
• Improving the platform using aggregated analytics
• Communicating important changes to the service

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

• Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for
• Legitimate interest — platform security, abuse prevention, analytics
• Consent — where required (e.g. marketing communications)

5. Third-party services

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (EU region)
• Stripe — payment processing. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy
• PostHog — product analytics. Data is pseudonymised and not shared.
• Vercel — hosting and edge delivery
• Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — city geocoding (no personal data sent beyond city + country name)

6. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, portfolio images, and personal data are permanently deleted within 30 days. Stripe payment records are retained as required by financial regulations.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

As a user in the EU/EEA you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority

8. Cookies

We use only functional cookies necessary for authentication (session token) and analytics. No advertising or tracking cookies are used. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings.

9. Children

Creative Map is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
